PPP was the place to learn new skills for trialing, successfully, in AKC Obedience and AKC Hunt Tests. TTTT (Teach, Train, Test, Title) is the place to prepare to trial successfully.
She did much better! There is a difference between working a dog with structured distractions (like what we did Wed at Allyson's -video was uploading to YouTube last night) and unfair distractions like Keesh getting away with pestering Shadow with no consequences. If you think about it, you have never seen me one of my dogs as an undisciplined distraction. I HAVE used my trained dogs as a deliberate and structuted distraction.
There is a HUGE difference. Now you know why I set the training up the way I do. Shadow shut down and ceased working for you because as the Pack Leader in that first video, you allowed Keesh to violate Shadow's working space. Shadow then had to defend herself because you did not have her back so Shadow lost trust and confidence in your leadership role.
Does this make sense? A VERY hard lesson to learn but a critical handler lesson. And then you did exactly the right thibg to help Shadow by backwashing, setting up a test she could succeed in and praising her for trusting you once again.
