OPEN – EXTENDING “PLACE”: Lesson 1

 EXTENDED “PLACE”

 LESSON 1 –

Objective- To extend distance of “Place” to Place Board as a preliminary introduction to the future Utility Go-Out.

Training Pattern:

1.      Start on leash @ 6’, send dog to Place Board from Sit, all 4 sides. Quiet praise. Do a Return to Your Dog, OR Step Back to Your Dog and heel them off Place Board. *DO NOT DO A RECALL OFF PLACE BOARD FOR THIS EXERCISE.* Do for Days 1/2

2.      Switch to LL @ 7’, send dog to Place Board from Sit, all 4 sides. Quiet praise. Do a Return to Your Dog, OR Step Back to Your Dog and heel them off Place Board. *DO NOT DO A RECALL OFF PLACE BOARD FOR THIS EXERCISE.* Do for Days 3/4

3.      Doing the “O” ring, now increase distance to 8’, send dog to Place Board from Sit, all 4 sides. Quiet praise. Do a Return to Your Dog, OR Step Back to Your Dog and heel them off Place Board. *DO NOT DO A RECALL OFF PLACE BOARD FOR THIS EXERCISE.* Do for Days 5/6

    Dog must demonstrate ability to GO-TO BOARD @ 15’ OF “Place” on LL on all 4 sides
