 Utility: Lesson 7 The Sit Signal

 THE SIGNAL EXERCISE

 LESSON 7 – The Recall Signal

 Objective: To Recall reliably on signal under distracting conditions.

 Training Pattern

1.      Leave dog on Sit/Stay and face dog from a leash length away.

2.      Hold leash snug and level with left hand.

3.      As you give verbal, “Come” command, start the beckoning signal that extends your right hand out sideways from your shoulder and sweeps it around to grab leash as far out in front of you as you can reach.

4.      Your left hand then should pull leash toward you as it comes back to end up against your chest.

5.      Let your hands hang normally as the dog then comes into SSIF.
