PPP was the place to learn new skills for trialing, successfully, in AKC Obedience and AKC Hunt Tests. TTTT (Teach, Train, Test, Title) is the place to prepare to trial successfully.
Scent Discrimination should be done daily now. Do the SD here, there and everywhere. When you find new and interesting distractions, especially in new locations/spaces/environments, you should whip out a bag of already scented items and work your dog.
Redd is ACE'ING the SD (she should) and will advance quickly. Ruth has not yet grasped the distinction between my 'hot scent' and the poison scent (everything else but my scent). This SD can, literally, take MONTHS for the dog to learn and then to be proofed well enough to succeed in the ring environment. For a field dog, the SD work BENEFITS their ability to use their God given nose (1000 times better than our noses) in the field.
